“Openness is the nature of the heart: only the open heart can see wholeness.”
The heart is our authentic core. Opening the heart is the bravest thing we can ever do. And yet we can’t do openness. Openness is not an exercise. It is not something we can create or manufacture and certainly never something we can force onto others or ourselves. Standing in the Truth of who we are and living authentically takes a quality of courage, honesty, and strength that only the heart beholds.
Allowing ourselves to be fully seen is not for the faint-hearted: it is the basic uncovering of the fullness and rawness of our being, a coming naked to ourselves—something that we get to spontaneously in our own time, with a kind of readiness and maturing of the heart.
When we open, we are exposed and unprotected. We touch the whole spectrum of experience and human emotion. The parts we love, as well as those we believe to be unworthy, or would rather keep hiding from, are seen for what they truly are.
Leaning into ourselves completely and embracing vulnerability wholeheartedly are essential to reintegrating ourselves to the wholeness of our being. In the willingness to open, a miracle occurs: we are cleansed of the wounds that have bound us and naturally heal in the heart’s river of love.
The heart is, by its very nature, immensely resilient, soft, fierce, and bold. It has an immense capacity to bear what is here, to witness life in an extraordinarily deep and intimate manner. The heart knows what’s True for us in any given moment, it knows our dreams and holds our deepest secrets and aspirations. There are no limits as to what the heart can contain.
Self-disclosure is our capacity to stand as the compassionate heart at the center of it all, in fierce commitment and total fidelity to Truth, standing up in the face of all fear and conditioning.
When we are connected to our hearts, we stand in truth. Opening the heart is a force like no other: it is the most powerful, noble, and pure act of love that can naturally spring from within us.
